Key: Ab major
Verse 1
I love every one of them.
I always hated to be around Clovis,
because he was always downhearted
about something.
You know, Clovis was mad.
He didn't want to be Clovis
Leadbetter.
He wanted to be a log truck.
And everywhere Clovis went,
he went like a log truck.
Well, when he got old enough to
notice the girls,
he decided he better go to talking.
In fact, he liked the girls so well,
he got to talking so good,
public speaking contest.
And he was going to the state finals
at the 4 -H club roundup
and he needed him a suit.
He had never had a suit before.
I went with him to
Mississippi.
And he went in and he dealt with Mr.
Whitcomb.
And he sold him a suit,
11 .93. Pretty suit.
Told him it'd be a good one.
Clovis won that thing.
On the way home it come a downpour.
I'm talking about we
got wet and Clovis's suit
shrunk up about a foot on the arms
and shrunk up about a foot on the legs
and me and Clovis went
back to town.
We hunted up this Mr. Whitcomb.
We run into the store
and Clovis said, Sir,
ten days ago I bought this suit in here.
