The sun was just coming up
behind a large mountain,
so the first thing Perry saw
was the break of day in Wildwood
Heart.
Break of day,
a moment of enchantment
When the dawn comes,
tip -top down the hill.
Morning sky of aglow,
while the sleepy earth below,
feels the kiss of the breeze.
Sweep the mist from her trees,
and then lo and behold,
all is gold, all is
Break of day,
one perfect hour at dawning,
When the world in loveliness
is dressed,
Every flower fresh with dew
Gives a fragrance to the air
Rippling brook runs along
Joins the birds in their song
See the sky blue and clear
Come awake, day is here
Break of day.
Break of day.
Perry discovered that Wildwood Heart in the springtime
is new and beautiful indeed.
The sun shone so brightly
you'd think it had just learned
how.
She could hear the soft breezes
shaking the leaves on the
quaking aspen.
and sighing through the tall pine.
Far below,
Perry could hear the water
that tumbled over the beaver
pond.
Perry discovered there were lots of neighboring children in Wildwood Heart,
and like all children,
they had lessons to learn.
Perry had to practice climbing in the treetops,
For strange as it may seem,
baby squirrels have to
learn to climb.
Every animal had to learn a special thing.
The baby raccoons
had to learn to catch fish
and wash their food in the brook.
The baby wildcats learned to hunt,
big game, like frogs.
The baby foxes at their den
learned the science of
catching mice.
The beaver was taught how to fell a tree.
