a butterfly got its wings
Went flying past a bluebird,
And her sweet song filled the meadow
like some lonesome lullaby
The fireflies started dancing,
A couple kids filled their mason jars
And ran like hell back home
And the happy on their faces
Brought tears to their mama's eyes
All because of a butterfly
The smallest thing can come
Oh, thank God for a butterfly
Late last night I was thinking bout
All the love that I took and made
All the prayers that went unanswered
But all the little things lead
When we muddle through and make it
If somehow it wandered and loses
The smallest things become
Sometimes when I look back
I finally see why we don't know how
All the little things lead up to right now
Oh, thank God for a butterfly
