Verse 1
The reas (C major) on that has kept us together
(D major) is not because people
appreciate great musicians.
The (C major) reason we have (D major) stayed together
is because musicians (C sharp major) like to play (D major) music.
And if we had not been musicians,
the band (B major) would have folded a
long time ago.
(C major) It just so happens
that everybody in the (B major) band
is sort of (C major) masochistic about,
they (D major) like to play (C major) well enough that they'll put up with a
lot of the other (D major) troublesome (C major) stuff
that we go through in
order to do it.
You know, like being on the road is (B major) no fun.
And (C sharp major) there's a lot of funny stor (B major) ies
that you can tell when you get home.
But the actual process
is something of a drain on your energy.
And (C major) it gets pretty unpleasant sometimes,
especially in Europe.
(D major) So the only time you really
(C major) get to rock out
is when you're playing. (B major)
(C major) It's worth it.
It's quite a feeling to be up there
just (G major) (D major) blowing your brains (E flat minor) out.
Even if there's only five people
(D major) in the audience
who can really (E major) understand
(C major) what you're getting into,
you know, (E flat minor) and it's irrelevant
whether or not (C sharp major) they clap for (E flat minor) it
or (E major) even walk out in the (B major) middle of it
because the (E flat minor) band knows when it's
(C major) played good
and also knows when it's
played bad.
No amount (B major) of applause after a bad
show
is gonna make you (C major) feel right,
you know.
Sometimes people clap
(B flat minor) for the crappiest things.
