The Shearer's Blowout chords by Ted Egan

Intro 1
D
G
Verse 1
G
The Shearers
While the publican had
seen them on the track
So he ran and he hid his money out the back
D
G
He knew that if he couldn't
cash their cheques
They'd pour the total value
down their necks
Sure as falling off a log,
D
G
they'd blow the lot on grog
So the shearer's cheques
were placed up on the till
D
And the shearers started
G
D
G
in to drink their fill
They were singing songs
and dancing merrily
And the public enwrapped his
sweaty hands with glee
Come on, drink up, men!
I'll get the lot again
But after several gowls of outback fun
The leading shearer winked and said,
Hey fellas, let's run a bicycle race,
Now bikes are all the rage.
Swags up, water bags full, wait for age,
To the cemetery and back,
right all out on the track.
So the shearers wheeled their
bikes out on the track,
And the publicans
D
G
slapped their leader on the back
He said, a bicycle race,
what a terrible good idea
I'll buy the winning rider a butcher a beer
He fired off the gun
And they rode into the sun
Well you've never seen such an act
in all your life
Oh, the publican ranted and he raved
and he belted his wife
Cos the shearers never came
back on that fatal day
And the publican says that
if ever he gets his way
He'll ring their necks
Cos they took their bloody cheques
