So I made my great escape,
I am safe in blood and bone
I want to go away, I want to go alone
To a quiet place where time
So now every day for lunch
I pick tomatoes off the vine
Pour some very cold white wine
And pick some sweet figs off the tree
When the sun begins to set,
I take the stairs down to the sea.
If you were here, you would see a man
in nothing but a golden tango
Clamber up the rocks alone,
To the water by the golden castle town
After seven weeks of this,
this perfect golden bliss
I start to feel a little more like Ben
I start writing songs again
That's when I know that I can
Out of the water, up the stairs,
Pack my suitcase an d I'm off
It's been good this disappear
But I smile when the airplane
And I get home to New York City
