hard -shelled Alabama preacher
My brother went to college
you ain't never gonna mount to a thing
with that silly -lookin' guitar and sing
You hang around them juke joints
Making music like some wild man
Now what's that supposed to mean,
Well, one day my daddy told me,
Now you pack up that guitar,
or you just pack up your stuff
and I organized me a band
Called myself the Alabama Wildman
Well, I worked in every joint
from New York to the Gulf
Singin' songs and pennies,
Many nights I lived on coffee
Soda crackers and pork and beans
But friends, I finally went
Said, I'm the Alabama Wildman,
folks, and I'm here to stay
Took my guitar and I showed them
So we made a little record
With me going, ooh, hook it, hook it, boy
Now I'm drivin' me a Cadillac,
Cause I'm a -sellin' them records
and I'm workin' them shows
And people love me everywhere I go
a funny thing happened about a week or so back
I played a show in my hometown
And guess who was sittin' out
Was my daddy, grinnin' up at me
and pattin' his feet, sayin'
Sock it to your daddy, wild man
Yeah, that's my boy alright
Taught him everything he knows
Bought him his first guitar
Get them checks comin' in
We're gonna pay for the drive next week
