Two little children, a boy and a girl,
sat by an old church door.
The little girl's feet were as brown
as the pearls that lay on the
were all tattered and torn
A tear shone beneath his blue eyes
And this was the maiden's reply
Mama's in heaven, God took her away
For we have no mother or home
Papa was lost on the sea long ago
We waited all night on the shore
He was the life -saving captain,
And he never came back anymore
Mama got sick, angels took her away
To dwell in a mansion so bright
She said they would come for
Perhaps they are coming tonight
He found down beneath the snow white
In heaven with Mama that night
Mama's in heaven, God took her away
for we have no mother or home.
