It goes like this. One day,
my truck run out of gas
on Route 1
and I (C major) was thumbing into town
going to (G major) get me something when these
(A major) three dudes in this big black car
pulled over to the side. (C major)

come over here and let's talk.

he just grinned.

That they (G major) didn't want me to know

Soddy's fixin' to get
in a heap of trouble
You see, cause when we got to (D major) town,
I (G major) told them things
They said, well look,
we got a business deal
here at the bank
Why don't you sit out in the

And when we finish, we'll (C major) buy you a beer."
I said, fine.
(D major) So I sit there pickin' (G major) my teeth,
and I seen this gas (D major) station
over across the street.
(C major) I thought, well, shoot,
(A major) while they're in the bank,
I'll just go get (D major) some gas from
my truck while (G major) I'm here.
So I did.
And I was on the self -service aisle,
pumpin' some gas in (C major) the can,
when this great big cop
come up (A major) a -screamin' at everybody,
(D major) wavin' his hand.
(G major) He said, everybody,
stay where you are,
that black vehicle (C major) is a stolen car.
Is that yours, boy?
I (A major) said, no, officer,
(D major) I'm just puttin' gas in this (G major) can.

the damn car knucklehead?
