when there came a (G major) little boy's voice
on the radio line.

is there anyone there?

Well, I keyed the mic (C major) and said,
You got it, Teddy Bear.

Now I'm not supposed to bother

Mom says you're busy for me

I'm crippled (F major) and I can't walk.
Well I came back and (C major) told him
to fire up that old mic.

This was my dad's radio,
the little boy said,
but I guess it's mine

because my daddy's dead.
(C major) Dad had a wreck about a month ago.
He was trying to get home

Mom has to (C major) work now to make ends meet,
and I ain't much help with
my two crippled feet. (F major)
She says not to worry, though,

like more than anything else to see.
(D minor) Aw, (C major) I know (F major) you guys are too busy
to bother with me.
But you see, my dad (C major) used
to take me for rides
when he was home.

since (G major) my daddy's gone. (C major)
Not one breaker came on the old CB
As (F major) that little crippled boy talked with me.
I tried hard to (C major) swallow the lump
that just wouldn't stay down

Dad was gonna take
Mom and me with him later this year.

(F major) Well, he gave me his address,
and I didn't once hesitate,

I turned that (G major) old truck
around on a dime,
headed straight for Jackson Street, 229. (C major)
And (G major) as I rounded (C major) the corner,
oh, I got one (F major) heck of a shock.
Eighteen wheelers were lined up
for three city blocks. (C major)
Why, I guess every driver (G major) for miles around
had caught Teddy Bear's call, (C major)
and that little crippled boy
was having a ball. (A minor)
(C major) For as fast as one driver
would carry him in,
another would carry him out
to his truck to take (F major) off again.
Well, you'd better believe
I took my turn at riding Teddy (C major) Bear.
Then I carried him back in
and set (G major) him down in his (D minor) chair. (G major)
And, if I (C major) never live to see happiness again,
I want you to know
I (F major) saw it that day
in the face of that little man.
(C major) We took up a collection for him
(G major) be fore his mama got home.
Then (C major) all the drivers said goodbye
and they were gone.
He shook my hand with a mile -long grin
and said, So long, (F major) trucker,
I'll catch you again.
Why, (C major) I hit that old interstate
with tears in my eyes.
I turned (G major) on the radio
and I got another surprise.
Breaker 1 -9, (C major) came a voice on the air.

from Mama Teddy Bear.

(D minor) Cause (G major) you (C major) just made my little
boy's dream come true.
