Well, over the years of my lifetime
I've covered the breadth of this land
From the shores of the shimmering oceans
To deserts of saltbush and sand
And people will often ask me,
isn't it time for a rest?
Well, the road is my home
and it's all that I've known
And I'm still here to give it my be st
Well, I started out as a young man
with just a guitar and a song
I sang of the bush and its hardships
The home of the brave and the strong
And I played in the halls and the sideshows
I played to the folk way out west
and it's all that I've known
And I'm still here to give it my be st
Well, time brought a woman to love me
I soon had a family in tow
We travelled the plains of the outback
A travelling musical show
And we weathered the hard
Together as onward we pressed
and it's all that I've known
And I'm still here to give it my be st
So give me the flies and the red dust
Give me the tall wavy frame
Give me the shimmering heat haze,
I'll face it all gladly again
And I'll sing my old songs
to all who have made me their guest
and it's all that I've known
And I'm still here to give it my best
and it's all that I've known
But I'm still here to give
Thank you very much indeed
on a couple of people now
They've been singing professionally
so that's a hell of a long time.
they've had radio programs
and they've been travelling all around the country all their lives. So they've
developed a very special type of yodelling.
It's called harmony yodelling.
So let's give a big hand now
of the fabulous McKean Sisters.
