Verse 1
(D major) Now when
I was a (G major) little bitty boy
just (D major) above the floor
(A major) We (D major) used to go to (G major) Grandma's house
(A major) every weekend or (D major) so
We'd chicken pie and (G major) country ham
and (D major) homemade butter on the (A major) bread
But the (D major) best darn thing about
(G major) Grandma's house
was the (A major) great big feather (D major) bed
It was nine feet high, six feet wide,
(G major) soft as a downy (D major) chick
It was made from the feathers
of four and eleven geese
And a (E major) whole load of claws for the (A major) tick
It would (D major) hold eight kids and
four hound dogs
And the (G major) piggy we stole from the (D major) shed
We didn't get much sleep,
but we (G major) had a lot of fun
On (A major) Grandma's feather (D major) bed
After supper we'd (G major) sit around the fire
And the (D major) old folks spit and (A major) chew
Pa (D major) would talk about the (G major) farm
and the war
Granny'd (A major) sing a ballad or (D major) two
We'd sit there listening,
(G major) watching the flames
Till the (D major) cobwebs filled my (A major) head
Next (D major) thing I'd know I'd
(G major) wake him in the morning
In the (A major) middle of the old feather (D major) bed
It was nine feet high, six feet wide
Soft (G major) as a downy (D major) chick
It was made from the feathers
of four eleven geese
And a (E major) hole for the club for the (A major) tick
It would (D major) hold eight kids
and four hound dogs
And the (G major) figure we stole from the (D major) shed
We didn't get much sleep
But we (G major) had a lot of fun
on (A major) Grandma's feather (D major) bed (G major) (A major) (D major)
Well, I loved my Ma and I (G major) loved my Pa
I loved (D major) Granny and Grandpa too
(A major) I went fish (D major) ing with my Uncle
Wrestled (G major) with my Cousin
I (A major) even kissed Aunt Blue
Oo (D major) h, but if I ever had (G major) to make a choice
I (D major) guess it ought to be (A major) said
I'd (D major) trade them all
For the (G major) gal and the robe
For (A major) Grandma's feather bed
(D major) It was nine feet high, six feet wide
Soft (G major) as a downy chick
(D major) It was made from the feathers
of four eleven geese
And a (E major) hole both of course was a (A major) tick
It would (D major) hold eight kids and
four hound dogs
And a (G major) piggy we stole from the (D major) shed
We didn't get much sleep
but we (G major) had a lot of fun
On (A major) Grandma's feather bed
(D major) We didn't get much sleep
but we (G major) had a lot of fun
On (A major) Grandma's feather (D major) bed
