I've always been a loner,
never went out much,

waitress there

She was very nice.

called my answering machine

why I was never coming in,

but I didn't pick up the phone.

And then, four years ago,

I read in the local paper
that this, the president's waitress,
this very one,

had died in a house fire.

So now when I order pizza for delivery

from Domino's or Pizza Hut
or whatever,
I always Let's get it with black eyes,

because black is the color of grief.
