Verse 1
There was (G major) a time, I know,
when in the book of heaven
An (C major) old account was standing (G major)
for sins (A major) yet unfor (D major) given
I named (G major) the side, the top,
an (D major) d many (G major) things below
But I (C major) went to the Keep (G major) er
and settled long (D major) ago, (G major) long ago (D major)
And all my names, long ago,
(G major) I settled below
Yes, the old account was
(A major) settled long ago (D major)
And the re (G major) cord's clear today
For He washed (C major) my sins away
(G major) When the (D major) old (G major) account was
settled (D major) long ago (C major) (G major)
The (D major) old (G major) account was larger
and larger every day
For I (C major) was always sin (G major) ning
and nev (A major) er tried to pay (D major)
But when (G major) I looked ahead
and saw such pain and woe
I said (C major) that I would settle (G major) and settle
long (D major) ago (C major) (G major) (C major) (G major)
When (D major) (G major) at the judgment bar
I stand before my King
And he (C major) the book will open (G major)
and can (A major) not find a thing
(D major) Then my (G major) heart will be glad,
while (D major) tears (G major) of joy (D major) will (G major) flow
Because I (C major) had it settled (G major) and
settled long (D major) ago (C major) (G major)
Old (D major) sin (G major) ners seek the Lord,
repent of all your sin
For thus (C major) He has commanded,
(G major) if you (A major) will enter in (D major)
And then (G major) if I should live
a hundred years below
There (C major) I'll not regret (G major) it,
I settled long (D major) ago (G major)
Long ago, (D major) down on the knees
Long ago, (G major) I settled it all
Yes, the old account was
settled (A major) long ago (D major)
Hallelujah, and the (G major) record's clear today
For He washed (C major) my sins away
(G major) When the (D major) old (G major) account was
settled (D major) long ago (C major)
Long ago (G major) you
