  • Verse 1
    D

    A
    D

It happened one day near December's

    end when two neighbors
    C

Called on an old friend and they found
    D

his shop so meager an d
    C
    Asus4

Lean made gay with thousand bows
    A

    of green and Conrad was

Sitting with faces shining when he sud
    D

    denly stopped as he

Stitched a twine and he said "Old friends,

    it dawned today

As the cock was crowing the night

    away the Lord appeared in
    C

A dream to me and said

"I'm coming your guest to be."

So I've been busy with feet of stern
    A
    D

    strewing my shop with
    A

Branches of fern. The table is spread

    and the kettle is shine.
    D

And over the rafters the holly

is twine. Now I'll wait for my
    G

Lord to appear and listen closely

so I will hear his step as
    D
    Em

He nears my humble place. And I'll open the
    G
    Em
    Asus4

door and look on His face.
    A
    So his
    Verse 2

    friends went home
    Asus4
    A

and left Conrad alone for this
    D

Was the happiest day he had known.

For long since his family had
    G

Passed away and Conrad had spent

    many a sad Christmas Day.
    Em

But he knew with the Lord as his Christ
    E
    D

    mas Guest this Christmas
    Em
    D

Would be the dearest and best.
    Verse 3
    A
    Asus4

So he listened with only joy
    A

    in his heart and with
    Asus4
    A

Every sound he would rise with a start
    D

    and look for the

Lord to be at his door. Like the vision

he had had a few hours before.

So he ran to the window after hearing

a sound but all he could
    C

See on the snow covered ground

was a shabby beggar whose shoes

Were torn and all of his clothes
    A
    Asus4

    were ragged and worn.
    A
    But Conrad was touched
    Verse 4
    A

and he went to the door
    D

And he said "You know your feet

    must be frozen and sore.

I have some shoes in my shop for you

    and a coat that will

Keep you warmer too." So with grate
    C

ful heart the man went away

But Conrad noticed the time of day
    Am
    A

    and wondered what made the

Lord so late and how much longer he'd
    Asus4
    D

    have to wait.
    Verse 5

When he heard a knock he ran

to the door but it was
    G

Only a stranger once more. A bent

old lady with a shawl of
    Em
    D

Black with a bundle of kindling
    Em

piled on her back. She asked
    Edim
    Em
    Asus4

For only a place to rest but
    A

    that was reserved for Conrad's
    Asus4
    A

Great guest. But her voice seemed
    D

to plead "Don't send me away,
    G

Let me rest for awhile on Christmas Day",

    so Conrad brewed

Her a steaming cup and told her to
    Em

set at the table and sup.
    E
    Verse 6
    D

But after she left he was filled with dis
    Asus4

    may for
    A
    Asus4

He saw that the hours were slipping away
    A

and the Lord hadn't come as
    D

He said he would. Then Conrad felt sure he

    had misunderstood.
    Verse 7
    D

When out of of the stillness

    he heard a cry "Please
    C

Help me and tell me where am I?"

    So again he opened his

    Friendly door and stood disapoin
    D
    C

    ted as twice before.
    A

It was only a child that wandered away

    and was lost from
    D

    Her family on Christmas Day.
    Verse 8

    Again Conrad's heart was

heavy and sad but he knew

He should make the little girl glad.

    So he called her in
    C

    And he wiped her tears,
    D
    C

    quieted all her childish fears.

Then he led her back to her home once
    Asus4
    A

    more but as he

    Entered his own darkened
    Asus4
    A
    D

    door he knew the

    Lord was not coming today.
    Verse 9
    D

Well the hours of Christmas had
    G

    passed away so he

Went to his room and knelt
    Em

down to pray and he said

"Dear Lord, why did you delay?
    Asus4

    What kept you from
    A
    Asus4
    Am

Coming to call on me? For I wanted
    D

so much your face to see.
    G
" When soft in the silence a voice he heard.
    Verse 10

"Lift up your head for I kept my word.
    Em
    D

Three times my shadow crossed your floor
    E
    D

    And three times I came
    Asus4
    A

    to your lowly door.

I was the beggar with bruised, cold feet
    D

And I was the woman you gave

    something to eat.

I was the child on the homeless

    street.

    Three times I knocked,
    C

and three times I came in.

And each time I found the warmth
    D
    C

    of a friend.
    Asus4
    A
    Asus4

Of all the gifts, love is the best.
    A
    Em

    And I was honored to

    be your Christmas Guest.

    • Best Tuning App Ever

      MaddProfessor

I've downloaded many tuning apps before and this one is by far the best. Easy to use, super user-friendly, and they have a bunch of fun different chords and songs to help you learn new music. I highly recommend.

    • Well-Designed App

      Rose the Black Cat

I mostly use this for tuning my guitar, which this app makes ridiculously easy. It also has a large selection of songs to play along to and it helps show you which chords to play as well how to make the shapes with your fingers.

    • Got me back into playing

      Tuliketsune

I got this app to tune an old guitar, and noticed it has a feature that autoscrolls as I play chords to famous songs. For some reason, this was a lot more motivating for me than any other way of practicing guitar. Now I'm actually practicing and remembering the names of chords 🙂

      Brad

Not only is it a tuner (best app tuner I've used personally) but it also has a metronome, games, chords, and a plethora of instruments to choose from and it's SUPER easy to navigate. I love it! Thanks for making an awesome app. From one musician to another, THANKS!!!

    • Very reliable tuner

      theNewPaul

This is a great app! Very easy to use and very reliable, if you are just starting out, you can take a big worry off your mind, by getting in tune quickly and easily with this app. Highly recommended!

    • This is the best guitar tuner ever.

      Caleb Schafli

It tunes your guitar accurately so you can get the best sound. I like all the other little games as well because they teach you how to play different chords and you can learn to identify the chords by listening to them and it is all offline.

    • Great to tune and play

      Lynae T

I love how easy it is to tune and find and play my favorite songs.
