Verse 3

So help you God

Yes, I do

Judge, I've never believed in divorces

Unless they just have to be

But after you've heard my story

Then I know you'll set this man free

Verse 4
G
It began right after (G major) the wedding
D
She cheated (D major) and she lied from the start
And I could see from the way
they were headed
A
D
This wo (A major) man would soon break his heart (D major)

Verse 5

Set him free, set him free for I love him,

you see

Verse 6
D
 (D major)
The three of us were always
the best of friends
G
(G major) But when I leave this courtroom,
D
Judge, (D major) I know our friendship ends
If you could've heard the awful
things that I've heard her say
A
(A major) While she called him names and slapped
D
his face and he'd (D major) just turn away

Verse 7

And the nights we went out for fun

It was also plain to see then

She danced all night with someone else

And leaved him there with me

Verse 8

Set him free, set him free,

for I love him, you see

Verse 9
D
 (D major)
Now, I ask you, Judge to understand,
G
D
(G major) think it over slowly (D major)
You see, I fell in love with him
and I don't care who knows
A
I'd respect him (A major) as a husband
and I treat him like a man
D
I (D major) know I could help him find more happiness
G
than this woman ever can (G major)
