Verse 1
(G major) Well, many,
many years ago when (D major) I was 23
I was married to a widow
who was (G major) pretty as can be
This widow had a grown -up daughter
who (C major) had hair of red
My father (A major) fell in love with her
and (D major) soon they two were wed
This (G major) made my dad my son -in -law
and (D major) changed my very life
For my daughter was my mother
cause she was (G major) my father's wife
To complicate the matter,
even though (C major) it brought me joy,
I soon (A major) became the father
of a (D major) bouncing baby boy.
This (G major) little baby then became a (D major) brother -in -law to Dad,
and so became my uncle,
which was really (G major) very sad.
For if he was my uncle,
then that (C major) also made him brother
of the (A major) widow's grown -up daughter,
who of (D major) course was my stepmother.
(G major) I'm my (D major) own grandpa,
(G major) I'm (C major) my own grand (D major) pa
It sounds (G major) funny I know, but it (C major) really is so
For I'm (G major) my (D major) own grandpa
(G major) My father's wife then had a son
who kep (D major) t them on the run
And he became my grandchild
for he (G major) was my daughter's son
My wife is now my mother's mother
an (C major) d it makes me blue
Because (A major) although she is my wife,
she's (D major) my grandmother too.
(G major) I'm my (D major) own grandpa. (G major)
I'm (C major) my own grandpa. (D major)
It sounds (G major) funny, I know, but it (C major) really is so.
For I'm (G major) my (D major) own grandpa. (G major) (D major)
(G major) (C major) (D major) (G major)
(C major) (G major) (D major) (G major)
Now it's my wife, it's my grandmother,
I (D major) am her grandchild
And every time I think of it,
it (G major) nearly drives me wild
For now I have become
the strangest (C major) case you ever saw
As (A major) husband of my grandmother,
I (D major) am my own grandpa
(G major) I'm my (D major) own grand (G major) pa
I'm (C major) my own grand (D major) pa
It sounds (G major) funny, I know, but it (C major) really is so,
For I'm (G major) my (D major) own Grand (G major) pa Ken! (C major) (G major)
