I went down to the creek today
Did some fishin' and did okay
Caught me a craw that was
Next to my spot at the creek
Got me a poem, made it myself,
whittled it down, and it's just right
And I can say that I do know
how to make a fishin' pole
Memories of my childhood days
I get older, but they nev
Memories of my childhood days
A sweet, sweet song is what I heard
Tell me why I shouldn't stay
Out at the creek and fish
Across the trail, I've them run,
old Ma Paisa and her newborn son
Tell me where else could I be,
where there's more stuff that you
Memories of my childhood days
I get older, but they never
I skipped a rock, I seen it fly
There's one thing that I have shown
Is how to find a skipping
I don't know what mama will say
I should have stayed home and bailed ahead
I got chores that I could do
But she'll feel better in a day
Memories of my childhood days
I get older, but they never
Memories of my childhood days
